Abstract
Sea water is one of the water resources that has not fully utilized for drinking water. In this paper, the electrodes of Capacitive Deionization (CDI) were synthesized by crosslinking method. The electrodes were synthesized with an activated carbon from coconut shell, glutaric acid and polyvinyl alcohol as a binder. Furthermore, optimization of desalination system is done by variation of voltage source (V) and the addition of ion exchange membrane. The system was tested by conductivity measurement of water before and after desalination process. Resulted conductivity level from measurement showed that the process of NaCl adsorption is occurred on the electrodes.
