Abstract

Multiferroics are materials that simultaneously exhibit magnetic and electric properties. Bismuth-ferrites were prepared from iron sands and commercial FeCl3.6H2O as raw materials used two methods in order to compare magnetic properties of BiFeO3 which was produced from each raw materials and methods. Wet mixing and coprecipitation method were used to prepare BiFeO3 powder. The materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The magnetic measurement at room temperature exhibited a weak ferromagnetic behavior. The best hysteretic curve was showed by samples with iron sands as raw material and were used by wet mixing method although they still have impurities.
