Article Types Accepted:

  1. Articles and Manuscripts

    • May apply methods in new ways or to new questions
    • Typically 4,000-10,000 words (no specific word limit)
  2. Review Articles
    • Comprehensive and authoritative descriptions of subjects within journal scope
    • Educational purpose
    • Typically around 5,000 words (no specific word limit)
  3. Contact Articles
    • Briefly document original data analysis using established methods
    • Generally under 2,000 words
  4. Methods Articles
    • Present experimental or statistical methods, tests, or procedures
    • May use newly acquired datasets
    • Methods can be completely new or improvements to existing techniques
    • Generally under 2,000 words
  5. Viewpoint (Comments and Discussion)
    • Present arguments not necessarily based on practical research
    • May report on theoretical, sociological, and ethical aspects
    • Focus on comments and opinions about specific issues
    • Typically about 1,000 words
  6. Discussions
    • Comment on previously published papers
    • May include responses from original authors
    • Provide opinions, reactions, critical assessments, and connections to other ideas/subfields
  7. Book Reviews
    • Summarize and comment on recently published books
    • Typically 1,000-1,500 words
