0 Introduction
GEOSAINTEK Journal with registration number ISSN 2460-9072 (print), ISSN 2502-3659 (online) is a scientific journal published by the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Surabaya, Indonesia. GEOSAINTEK accepts and publishes study results, research, applications of science and technology in the field of earth sciences. It is open to researchers, practitioners, and academics from various institutions.
GEOSAINTEK Journal is published in print and online versions. GEOSAINTEK Online has been available since November 2015 or since the publication of Volume 1, Number 1 in 2015. GEOSAINTEK Journal is indexed by Google Scholar, Cross Ref, Garda Rujukan Digital (GARUDA) and Bielefeld Academic Search Engine (BASE). The GEOSAINTEK Journal Editorial Team invites you to contribute as an author to this journal.
1 Title & Author Information
The manuscript title should be written at the top of the first page in the center. Meanwhile, the author's name (without academic titles), and the author's affiliation address, should be written. Keywords should be arranged alphabetically between three to five words.
The contributing author must be written first followed by the second, third, etc. Communication regarding article revisions and final decisions are informed via email only to the contributing author. If there is more than one author, then the second author's name is placed next to the first author, separated by a comma (,). If the author's name consists of at least two words, then the first name should not be abbreviated. If the author's name is only one word, then it is written as is. However, specifically in the online version, the author's name will be written as two words with name repetition for metadata indexing purposes (Eridani, 2006, Imron and Wahyudi, 2010).
2 General Manuscript Requirements
The general manuscript requirements are as follows:
- The manuscript is an authentic research result that has never been published.
- The manuscript does not contain plagiarism elements. The Editorial Board will directly reject manuscripts indicated of plagiarism.
- Submission and publication processes are free of charge.
- Manuscripts written according to GEOSAINTEK Journal requirements (with Ms. Word, using template) must be submitted online using Open Journal System (OJS) on the GEOSAINTEK Journal portal.
- Template and article writing requirements use Ms. Word format that can be downloaded.
- Online submission can be viewed in the Online Submission Requirements section below.
- Manuscripts that do not comply with GEOSAINTEK Journal writing requirements will be returned to the author before the review process.
- The manuscript must contain several aspects of a scientific article: (a) article title, (b) author name (without titles), (c) author affiliation address, (d) author email, (e) abstract and keywords, (f) introduction, (g) methods, (h) results and discussion, (i) conclusion, (j) references.
- Subheadings included in the discussion sections (Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion) should use Arabic numerals starting from one. Subheadings are written without using bold letters.
- The manuscript consists of five to fifteen pages. Do not place page numbers.
- Submitted manuscripts must be camera ready.
- Articles are written using A4 paper size (210mm x 297mm), with margins as follows: left 25 mm, right 20 mm, bottom 20 mm and top 30 mm.
- Text in articles uses Calibri font type, 11pt, 1.13 spacing and two columns.
- Words that are foreign languages are written in italics.
- Each figure is numbered followed by figure caption below the figure.
- Each table is numbered followed by table title above the table.
- Each figure, table and chart is centered.
- Headings on odd and even pages are the same, written as volume/number publication year. Font size 11pt, centered with capital letters only on the first word.
3 Manuscript Content Requirements
Manuscript Title: The title should be informative and written clearly. The title gives an overview of the research conducted and should not lead to different interpretations. The first letter is capitalized and symmetrical. Article titles should not contain uncommon abbreviations. Article titles are written maximum three lines or fifteen words, Calibri 12pt, and centered. While the abstract contains 150-250 words, Font used Calibri 10pt and followed by three to five keywords.
Introduction: Introduction contains background and/or urgency of the research. Literature review is also included as a basis for the latest research questions, review of previous research relevant to the conducted research. At the end of the introduction, the purpose of writing the article is stated.
Methods: Methods contain the methods or approaches taken, procedures, instruments, data collection techniques and data analysis techniques and other matters related to the research methods.
Results and Discussion: Research results can be described descriptively or presented in the form of graphs, tables or diagrams. Discussion focuses on linking data and analysis results with research problems or objectives. Discussion can also be an answer to why facts are found as in the data.
Conclusion and Suggestions: Conclusion can be generalization of findings according to research problems, or can be possible developments for next steps. Conclusion can be in paragraph form, but preferably in points using numbering or bullet points.
References: References only contain all references cited in the manuscript. Sources written in References are truly referenced in the article body; and vice versa. References show the quality of scientific articles published in the last ten years.
4 References & Bibliography
All data or phrases or sentences in the article taken from other articles must include the source. Writing references uses reference manager applications to maintain consistency in citation methods and references such as Mendeley, Zotero or others. The citation and reference writing format used in GEOSAINTEK Journal follows the Harvard format provided.
5 Online Submission Requirements
Manuscripts must be submitted online using Open Journal System (OJS) on the GEOSAINTEK Journal portal. The steps are:
- First, author registers as a reader or author (check as desired) in the register menu.
- After the registration step is complete, login as author, click "New Submission". The submission stage consists of five steps: (1) Start, (2) Upload Submission, (3) Enter Metadata, (4) Upload Supplementary Files, then (5) Confirmation.
- In the "Start" column, select Journal Section (Full Article), check all.
- In the "Upload Submission" column, download the manuscript file in Ms. Word format in this column.
- In the "Enter Metadata" column, fill in all author data and their affiliation along with article title, abstract and keywords.
- In the "Upload Supplementary Files" column, authors are allowed to upload supporting files such as statement letters, etc.
- Write 3 names and candidates for reviewers.
- In the "Confirmation" column, if the entered data is correct, then click "Finish Submission".
