Abstract
Globalization brings changes to the social and cultural life of communities, including villages
that have a rich local culture. The influx of global culture has the potential to shift traditional
values that form the basis of national identity and citizenship. This paper aims to analyze the
role of village cultural localism in strengthening national identity and citizenship values in
the era of globalization, with a focus on the local cultures of villages in East Java Province.
The method used is a qualitative approach through literature study and social media observation to understand the dynamics of local cultural preservation and community responses to global influences. Data was obtained from scientific journals, official reports, and relevant online sources, then analyzed thematically to draw comprehensive conclusions. The
results of the study show that local village culture, such as traditions, performing arts, and a
social system based on mutual cooperation, has a strategic role in instilling values of
togetherness, social responsibility, and a sense of nationality. Local culture not only functions as a community identity, but also as a means of shaping citizenship rooted in the values of Pancasila. Although globalization poses the challenge of cultural homogenization, the use of technology and cultural village policies can be an opportunity to preserve and develop local culture in a sustainable manner. Thus, strengthening localism.
