Author Guidelines
0 Journal Objectives
Indonesian Journal of Development Studies is an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed medium for critical research and reflection on various complex issues of development theory, policy, and practice. This journal publishes various articles and review essays. The journal aims to continuously inform readers through commentaries, practical notes, and reviews of recent books and other media on development.
1 Originality & Plagiarism
Articles have not been published in any other Media and do not contain any elements of plagiarism (we will check by Ithenticate).
2 Types of Manuscripts Accepted
Types of articles suitable for publication include the following; research reports (laboratory, field, archives), conceptual ideas, studies, theory applications, issues reports, and book review.
3 Book Review Submission Requirements
Please note the following requirements for submitting book reviews:
- books being reviewed should be newly published (within the last one year for books in Bahasa Indonesia and two years for books in other foreign languages), or it is the main reference of one of a field study.
- book reviews should be between 3-5 pages in length, and
- a copy/ scan of the book cover should be attached.
4 Language & Writing Style
Articles are written in Bahasa Indonesia or English (preferable) using academic language along with standard academic writing structure and composition.
5 Manuscript Length & Formatting
Manuscripts are typed 1,5 spaced in a quarto paper size (A4), with MAXIMUM 12 pages in length including references, pictures, and tables.
6 Article Structure & Organization
The article should be in the form of an essay with the following structure:
- Title: Maximum 16 words, comprehensive, clear, precise, and without subtitles. Written in capital letters, font size 16, bold, single-spaced.
- Author Information: Author's name (without academic degree), email address, institution name and address.
- Abstract: Written in English, one paragraph, 100-150 words, containing aim, method, and results.
- Keywords: In English, maximum 10 words.
- Section and Subsection: Bold, font size 11, Times New Roman. Section titles in CAPITAL LETTERS, subsection titles in Title Case.
- Introduction: May include subsections, contains background and objectives.
- Methodology: Literature reviews, theoretical framework (if needed), materials and methods.
- Results and Discussion: Can be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English. Clearly address the research problem and objectives.
- Figures, Tables, and Formulas: Must include title, number, and detailed information. Should be referenced in the text by number (e.g., "in Table 4", "in Figure 2"), not by position.
- Conclusion: Summary of findings.
- Acknowledgment: Write precisely if needed.
- References: All listed references must be cited in the article.
7 Submission Format
Articles should be submitted online. The article is written using Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
8 Editorial Process & Notification
Notifications of the receipt of manuscripts and editorial decisions (whether the articles are accepted or not) will be informed to the authors by e-mail. Manuscripts that are not published will not be returned to the authors.
9 Submission Policy
All manuscripts must be prepared according to Indonesian Journal of Development Studies' Authors guideline. Upon the submission of the manuscripts, author(s) will receive the confirmation of the submission along with some submission declaration forms that need to be filled and signed before Editors can process the manuscript.
10 Revision Policy
The author should be willing to revise their articles if needed.
