Jurnal Aplikasi Teknik Sipil (Journal of Civil Engineering Applications) is a scientific journal that publishes original articles on knowledge, studies, research, as well as the application of research results and other developments in the field of Civil Engineering. All published articles have undergone a review process by peer reviewers and editing by the editorial board. This journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in addressing all aspects of publication ethics, particularly how to handle research and publication misconduct cases. This scientific publication ethics statement is a code of ethics for all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal, namely the management, editors, peer reviewers, and authors. The Scientific Publication Ethics Code essentially upholds three ethical values in publication: (i) Neutrality, meaning free from conflicts of interest in publication management; (ii) Justice, meaning granting authorship rights to those entitled as authors; and (iii) Honesty, meaning free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publication.

Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Management

• Determine the journal name, scientific scope, periodicity, and accreditation if needed.
• Determine the membership of the editorial board.
• Define the relationship between publisher, editor, peer reviewers, and other parties in a contract.
• Respect confidential matters, both for contributing researchers, authors/writers, editors, and peer reviewers.
• Implement norms and regulations regarding intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
• Review journal policies and communicate them to authors/writers, editorial board, peer reviewers, and readers.
• Create guidelines for the code of conduct for editors and peer reviewers.
• Publish the journal regularly.
• Ensure the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publication.
• Build cooperation networks and marketing.
• Prepare permits and other legal aspects.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

• Improve the quality of publications.
• Ensure processes to maintain the quality of published papers.
• Lead freedom in expressing opinions.
• Maintain the integrity of the author's academic track record.
• Communicate corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary.
• Have the responsibility to arrange and format papers, while the content and any statements within the paper are the responsibility of the author.
• Evaluate journal policies and attitudes from authors and peer reviewers to increase responsibility and minimize errors.
• Have an open-minded personality in accepting opinions or views of others that differ from personal opinions.
• Prohibit defending our own opinions, authors, or third parties that may result in incorrect decisions.
• Encourage authors to make improvements to their writings until they are worthy of publication.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

• Receive assignments from editors to review manuscripts and submit review results to editors, as material for determining the feasibility of a manuscript for publication.
• Reviewers must not review manuscripts that involve themselves, either directly or indirectly.
• Maintain author privacy by not disseminating correction results, suggestions, and recommendations, while providing criticism, suggestions, input, and recommendations.
• Encourage authors/writers to improve their manuscripts.
• Re-review manuscripts that have been revised according to established standards.
• Manuscripts should be reviewed promptly according to the publication's style guide based on scientific principles (data collection methods, author legitimacy, conclusions, etc.).

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors/Writers

• Ensure that those included in the author list meet the criteria as authors/writers.
• Collectively responsible for the work and content of the article including methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
• State the origin of resources (including funding), both directly and indirectly.
• Explain limitations in the research.
• Respond to comments made by peer reviewers professionally and promptly.
• Inform the editor if intending to withdraw their manuscript.
• Make a statement that the manuscript submitted for publication is original, has not been published anywhere in any language, and is not in the process of submission to another publisher.
