Focus and Scope

Aim

The Journal of Infrastructure and Facilities Management (JIFAM) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to the dissemination of innovative research and insights in the fields of infrastructure and facilities management. Our aim is to publish original articles, case studies, and review articles that provide valuable information and stimulate interest among engineers, planners, managers, researchers, and policy makers. We seek to enhance practitioners' understanding of infrastructure systems and management practices, offering alternative solutions to challenges in planning, operation, and maintenance.

Scope

The journal serves as a platform for the exchange of knowledge by publishing a variety of content, including editorials, original research articles, reviews, and case reports. The scope of JIFAM includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Functions of Infrastructure & Facilities – Examining the core purposes and roles that infrastructure and facilities serve in providing essential services and supporting community well-being.
  • Requests for Infrastructure & Facilities – Covering how needs and demands for new or improved infrastructure are identified, documented, and formally submitted.
  • Behavior Demand for Infrastructure & Facilities – Focusing on understanding the underlying behaviors and patterns that drive the need for infrastructure.
  • User Behavior of Infrastructure & Facilities – Exploring how individuals and groups interact with and use existing infrastructure in daily routines.
  • Evaluation of Infrastructure & Facilities – Assessing the performance, efficiency, and effectiveness of infrastructure against intended goals.
  • Infrastructure & Facilities Policy – Covering the rules, regulations, and guidelines governing development, operation, and use.
  • Infrastructure Planning & Facilities – The process of designing and scheduling future projects based on long-term needs and resources.
  • Infrastructure Operating Systems & Facilities – Examining technical and managerial systems for day-to-day infrastructure operation.
  • Infrastructure & Facilities Maintenance System – Processes and protocols for upkeep, repair, and preservation to ensure longevity and safety.
  • Removal of Infrastructure & Facilities – Procedures for decommissioning, dismantling, or repurposing infrastructure that is no longer needed.
  • Economic Infrastructure & Facilities – Infrastructure that directly supports economic activity, such as transportation and utilities.
  • Infrastructure & Facility Financing – Methods and sources of funding for building, operating, and maintaining infrastructure.
  • Infrastructure & Facilities Management Organization – Structures and teams responsible for overseeing projects and operations.
  • Spatial & Environmental Infrastructure & Facilities Aspects – How infrastructure interacts with physical space and the natural environment, including sustainability and ecological impact.

JIFAM aims to foster collaboration and discussion among practitioners and researchers, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of efficient, sustainable infrastructure systems on both local and global scales.
