Focus and Scope

This journal publishes high-quality original research articles, communications, notes, and invited review papers. We provide a platform for researchers, academics, and professionals to share their innovative work in engineering, science, and technology.

The primary criterion for publication is that all manuscripts must address issues relevant to industries, governments, and communities in developing countries. We seek research that offers solutions to real-world challenges and contributes to development.

Key knowledge areas include, but are not limited to: Industrial Engineering and Technology, Information Technology (including software engineering), Science and Its Applications, and Social Science and Humanity.

Detailed Scope

Vol. 37 No. 2 (2026)

IPTEK The Journal for Technology and Science, Vol. 37 No. 2 (2026) presents six original research articles covering diverse developments in information technology, transportation and infrastructure, sustainable energy, data-driven decision support, and geolocation-based systems.

The issue features research from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Indonesia, on improving heart disease classification accuracy using hybrid algorithms and hyperparameter optimization, implementing a GPT-3.5-based chatbot for converting natural-language requests into SQL queries, and identifying major risks associated with the Makassar–Parepare Railway Public–Private Partnership project.

Research from Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Indonesia, explores cassava peel waste as a sustainable natural binder for biomass biobriquettes, demonstrating promising mechanical and energy performance. A study from Politeknik Transportasi Darat Bali and Udayana University, Indonesia, evaluates Maximum Entropy-based Origin-Destination matrix estimation under limited traffic-count data for Indonesian Traffic Impact Analysis (Andalalin), highlighting the relationship between data availability, flow-fit performance, and OD estimation stability.

This issue also includes collaborative research involving the Polytechnic of Immigration and Correctional Indonesia and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, United States, proposing a real-time geolocation microservices integration framework using UML and the sidecar pattern to support immigration surveillance, with emphasis on system modularity, auditability, positional performance, privacy safeguards, and lawful implementation.

Together, the articles in this issue demonstrate the application of computational, engineering, and data-driven approaches to contemporary challenges in healthcare analytics, database accessibility, infrastructure risk management, renewable energy, transportation planning, and public-sector digital systems.

Submission Guidelines

Follow these steps to submit your manuscript

1 Scope & Originality

The IPTEK journal publishes original articles on technology and science disciplines relevant to industries and communities in developing countries. Manuscripts submitted must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication by other publishers.

2 Manuscript Formatting

Submit your manuscript in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX format. All figures must be high-resolution (minimum 300 DPI), and tables must be provided in an editable format. Please use either IEEE or APA citation style.

3 Author Information

Provide complete information for all authors, including their full names, affiliations, ORCID IDs, and contact details. One author must be designated as the corresponding author to handle all communications.

4 Online Submission Process

Create an account on our submission portal. Upload your manuscript along with a cover letter and any supplementary materials. The submitting author must ensure that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript.

5 Peer Review Process

All manuscripts will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers. This process typically takes several weeks. Authors will receive feedback and, if applicable, requests for revision based on the reviewers' comments.
